<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide protection from contact of an antenna with high-voltage power lines during performance of site surveys. <P>SOLUTION: A protection device (10) for electrically insulating an antenna (12) from a signal receiving device (14) while transferring RF signals includes a first waveguide (20) in signal communication and electrical communication with the antenna (12); and a second waveguide (22) in signal communication and electrical communication with the signal receiving device (14). The first and second waveguides (20, 22) are arranged in an end to end coaxial relationship facing each other, and the first and second waveguides (20, 22) are electrically insulated from each other, so that a high voltage from accidental contact of the antenna (12) with a power line (6) cannot pass from the antenna (12) to the signal receiving device (14). RF signals pass from the antenna (12) to the signal receiving device (14) through the protection device (10) with minimal signal loss. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
