<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel employing an in-plane-switching (IPS) system, which can obtain excellent image quality even when it is used outdoors. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel has a first retardation plate 12. The first retardation plate 12 generates a phase difference on a light flux penetrating the first retardation plate 12 so that a light flux incident from the front side of the liquid crystal panel through a first polarizer 11 draws near to circular polarization turning in a first direction. The liquid crystal panel also has retardation plates 13, 14 disposed between a liquid crystal layer 22 and a second polarizer 15. The values of phase differences of the retardation plates 13, 14 and the slow axis directions D2, D3 are so configured that a light flux incident from the back side of the liquid crystal panel through a second polarizer 15 draws near to circular polarization turning in a second direction which is opposite to the first direction, due to penetration through the retardation plates 13, 14 and penetration through the liquid crystal layer 22 at the time of black display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
