<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport device for a glass plate and a transport method for a glass plate that can transport a glass plate without bringing a member into contact with a main surface of the glass plate. <P>SOLUTION: A transport device 1 for a glass plate includes: a first holding part 24 which is provided to be displaced upward and downward with respect to a movable pedestal part 10, and has a first recessed streak part 24a which is opened upward; and a second holding part 32 which is provided above the first holding part 24 to be displaced upward and downward with respect to the first holding part 24. The second holding part 32 includes: a first wall part 32a1 which is inclined downward toward the pedestal part 10; and a second wall part 32a2 which is positioned on the opposite side from the pedestal part 10 across the first wall part 32a1, and constitutes a second recessed streak part 32a together with the first wall part 32a1.
