<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dehydrating-sintering furnace in which in a process for dehydrating and sintering a porous preform for a quartz glass optical fiber, after the end of dehydrating and sintering of the porous preform, a process gas for performing dehydrating and sintering is prevented from remaining in a pipe for internal pressure measurement connecting a furnace core tube and an internal pressure gauge for measuring the pressure in the furnace core tube, and thereby gas exhaust time required after dehydrating and sintering is shortened, and to provide a dehydrating-sintering method using the dehydrating-sintering furnace. <P>SOLUTION: A residual gas removing means is attached to a pipe 10 for internal pressure measurement in a dehydrating-sintering furnace for dehydrating and sintering a porous preform 1 to remove a process gas remaining in the pipe 10 for internal pressure measurement. Also, as the residual gas removing means, a gas exhaust port 16 connected to an exhaust gas treatment unit 19 is provided in the pipe 10 for internal pressure measurement, or a gas supply port connected to an inert gas supply source is provided in the pipe 10 for internal pressure measurement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
