<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a normal temperature insulating type superconducting cable that is superior in productivity to conventional normal temperature insulating type superconducting cables. <P>SOLUTION: A normal temperature insulating type superconducting cable 100 includes: a conductor portion 10 that has a superconducting conductor layer 12 formed on an outer circumference of a former 11; a heat insulating pipe 13, with a multi-pipe structure, that houses the conductor portion 10 therein and maintains the conductor portion 10 at an ultralow temperature; and an electric insulating layer 23 that surrounds an outer circumference of the heat insulating pipe 13. The heat insulating pipe 13 has an inner pipe 14 and an outer pipe 15. The outer pipe (outermost pipe) 15 on an outermost circumference is a straight pipe.
