<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering an adsorbent and noble metals which can efficiently separate and recover noble metals from a solution containing noble metals such as gold. <P>SOLUTION: An adsorbent is characterized by including a carbohydrate having ether bonds. The adsorbent is characterized by containing the carbohydrate dehydrated and condensation-crosslinked by using a strong acid. The strong acid includes sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. The carbohydrate includes cellulose. The cellulose includes one or more of cotton, hemp and paper.
