<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal module capable of delivering both horizontal viewing angle performance and luminance performance in a high-dimensional manner. <P>SOLUTION: A rectangular-shaped liquid crystal display module in the invention comprises: a liquid crystal display element that is formed by holding a liquid crystal cell between a pair of polarizing plates; an edge-light-type backlight of a surface light source that is provided on a back side of the liquid crystal display element in an overlapping manner and in which a lamp is arranged in parallel to a long side direction; and prism means that is arranged on the back side of the liquid crystal display element and of which a ridge line direction is provided in parallel to a long side direction. The liquid crystal display module has an angle of (1/4)π between a transmission axis direction and a short side direction of the polarizing plate on the back side of the liquid crystal display element. The liquid crystal display module also comprises a view angle expansion sheet that is provided between the liquid crystal display element and the prism means in an overlapping manner. The view angle expansion sheet includes a resin base film with optical anisotropy, and an angle between a leading axis direction and a short side direction of the base film is 0 or more and (1/2)π or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
