<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll polishing apparatus capable of automatically polishing a roll without impairing workability by an operator on the entrance side or the exit side of the roll. <P>SOLUTION: An upper polishing part (abrasive holder 9 and abrasive 10) is connected to the lower end of a rod 7, is arranged in separation from an upper roll 31 in the upper part of the upper roll 31 when a cylinder 6 is depressurized, and is moved downward with the downward movement of the rod 7 to abut on the upper roll 31 when the cylinder 6 is pressurized.
