<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of shortening an image disappearance period. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus performs in parallel, the reading of a pixel signal by still image capturing and the reading of a pixel signal by moving image capturing. The two pixel signals are read out, i.e. the first pixel signal based on a first signal charge stored in the photoelectric conversion element of a pixel 28 from the exposure start time of moving image capturing till a predetermined time within the exposure period of still image capturing, and the second pixel signal based on a second signal charge stored in the photoelectric conversion element of the pixel 28 from the predetermined time till the exposure end time of the moving image capturing.
