PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote communication apparatus capable of inexpensively realizing discrimination and control of a privacy level without needing special hardware.

SOLUTION: A remote communication apparatus comprises: a sound level determination part which acquires a microphone input signal and determines whether a sound is generated in the signal; a sound periodicity determination part which determines whether a sound is a voice or not; and a result determination processing part which acquires the determination result of the sound level determination part and that of the sound periodicity determination part, determines that no sound is generated if the sound level determination part determines that no sound is generated, determines that a non-voice sound is generated if the sound level determination part determines that a sound is generated and the sound periodicity determination part determines that the sound is not a voice, and determines that a voice is generated when the sound level determination part determines that a sound is generated and the sound periodicity determination part determines that the sound is a voice.
