<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an examination method for neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple system atrophy (MSA) by genetic test, an agent for treatment or prevention of neurodegenerative diseases, and a method for screening the treatment or prevention agent for neurodegenerative diseases. <P>SOLUTION: The examination method for neurodegenerative diseases includes a step to determine the copy number or expression quantity of Src homology-2 domain-containing transforming factor (SHC2) gene on a specimen separated from a living body.
