PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, authentication program and storage medium which can reduce unintended use.

SOLUTION: An ADF 130 transports an original document placed thereon and also detects the fact that the original document is placed thereon. An authentication control section 161 controls authentication and transits the authentication state to an authenticating state when the authentification is allowed. A function execution section 163 executes a function when the authentication state is the authenticating state. The authentication control section 161 transits the authentication state to a non-authenticating state when the original document placement is detected by the ADF 130 during the time the authentication state is the authenticating state.
