Certain examples describe systems and methods for processing blood. An example method includes receiving blood extracted from a blood source connected to a blood collection machine. The example method includes processing the blood using a filtration or separation device to remove at least a portion of a targeted component included in the blood to separate the targeted component removed from a non-targeted component. The non-targeted component may then be re-processed using either the same or a different filtration or separation device to remove an additional amount of the targeted component.
