Provided is a wireless communication device which does not depend much on the surrounding environment and has stable communication characteristics. A wireless communication device which is provided with: a wireless IC chip (50) for processing high frequency signals; and a feeding substrate (10) that is provided with a coil conductor (31), a planar conductor (35) and a matching circuit (20) that is connected to the wireless IC chip (50) and has a predetermined resonance frequency. The coil conductor (31) and the planar conductor (35) are connected to the matching circuit (20). The wireless communication device operates as a monopole antenna by itself, wherein the planar conductor (35) serves as a ground and the coil conductor (31) serves as a radiation element. Meanwhile, in cases where a conductor is in the vicinity of the planar conductor (35), the wireless communication device operates as a dipole antenna, wherein the planar conductor (35) is coupled with the conductor and serves as a first radiation element together with the conductor and the coil conductor (31) serves as a second radiation element.
