PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform file retrieval by information that is not extracted from document information stored in the file.

SOLUTION: A meta data imparting part 140 acquires a web page (HTML file) from an intranet web site 10. Then, when a hyperlink is embedded in the web page (HTML file), the meta data imparting part 140 acquires a file that is to be a link destination of the hyperlink and transmits the file together with the HTML file to a meta data extraction part 150. The meta data extraction part 150 extracts meta data associated with a file of the link destination by using the file that is to be a link destination of the hyperlink and the HTML file that is a link source of the hyperlink.
