<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a physical structure of a recording device to which an external recording device can be connected. <P>SOLUTION: The recording device includes: a connection terminal; means for detecting that an external recording device formatted by a first file system or an external recording device formatted by a second file system is connected to the connection terminal; receiving means for receiving a program; setting means for formatting the external recording device to the second file system when the external recording device of the first file format is connected to the connection terminal and setting the external recording device as the recording device for recording the program received by the receiving means; and firmware updating means for updating firmware data stored in a firmware storage section by using firmware update data when the external recording device of the first file format is connected to the connection terminal and when the firmware update data is determined to be stored in the external recording device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
