<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device and an information processing method capable of extracting portions of the entire content which are pleasant for a user to view and creating a summarized content. <P>SOLUTION: During reproduction of the content, images of the face of the user viewing the content are taken with a camera 17, and video frames in which user's expression is smiling are extracted from the entire content. Furthermore, portions corresponding to the video frames detected as the video frames in which the user's expression is smiling are extracted from the entire content and the extracted portions are joined together to create the summarized content.
