<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce traffic simply passing through a carrier network. <P>SOLUTION: A mobile communication system includes a radio communication device which is installed in a mobile communication network and communicates with a mobile terminal over a radio, a gateway which relays communications from the mobile terminal through the radio communication device to the Internet, and a node which carries out an authentication process in response to a connection request from the mobile terminal. The gateway is installed in the radio communication device or in a carrier network.
