<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a diffusion layer for a fuel cell having high water repellency and excellent gas diffusibility and water-discharging properties without applying a special water-repellent treatment. <P>SOLUTION: A mixed material is obtained by mixing carbon particles 10 and a powdered resin material (such as PTFE) 20 having water repellency with agitation in a supercritical fluid or a subcritical fluid of CO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>. A coating of the mixed material is applied to a catalyst layer 57 with a nozzle 6. The CO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>evaporates to be removed from the mixed material in the coating process, and a diffusion layer 57 having high water repellency and required pores is thus obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
