PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a dye for a dye sensitized solar cell, excellent in photoelectric conversion characteristics; a semiconductor electrode sensitized by the dye for a dye sensitized solar cell and having excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency; and a dye sensitized solar cell including the semiconductor electrode.

SOLUTION: There are provided: a dye for a dye sensitized solar cell, represented by general formula (1); a semiconductor electrode sensitized by the dye; and a dye sensitized solar cell including the semiconductor electrode.
