<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket capable of reducing a distance between terminals. <P>SOLUTION: In the socket, a terminal 3 is formed into a plate-like shape and includes a base part 32 and an elastic piece 34 that extends from the base part 32, comes into contact with a spherical electrode 101e formed on the underside of a semiconductor element, and is elastically deformed in the in-plane direction. A plate-like member 41 formed into a plate-like shape overlaps the base part 32 to hold the terminal 3.
