<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reflect a low-order bit of diffused error data in a quantization processing without rounding down the low-order bit, to keep high image quality, and to prevent memory capacity of a buffer storing the error data from becoming large. <P>SOLUTION: High-order bits and low-order bits of the diffused error data are separated by bit separation 256s. Different processing is applied to the high-order bits and the low-order bits without rounding down the low-order bits. A method for suppressing a line buffer used for reflection in the quantization processing of a subsequent pixel to the number of bits of the high-order bits is adopted. The low-order bits which are bit-separated are accumulated 256a in the buffer by adjusting them to pixel movement of the quantization processing, and a carry signal is added to the high-order bits. Thus, the low-order bits are reflected in the quantization processing, the high image quality is kept, and the memory capacity of the buffer is prevented from becoming large. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
