<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit that can control foaming. <P>SOLUTION: The outdoor unit includes a compressor drive and control section that starts a compressor in the outdoor unit in a low outdoor air temperature start mode when the outdoor air temperature is a first predetermined temperature or lower. In the low outdoor air temperature start mode, the compressor stops when the temperature of a delivery pipe of the compressor is a second predetermined temperature or lower upon an elapse of a first predetermined time from the start of the compressor.
