<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can efficiently form an image by using usable resources and which controls execution of printing data so that the image formed results of a plurality of the printing data do not overlap. <P>SOLUTION: The printing data received in an image input unit 1 are compressed by an image compressing and extending unit 4, and are stored in a memory unit 5. A job control unit 3 repeats checking that the print resources of a printing unit 6 satisfy the conditions of the printing data and processing for printing of one page. At this time, when the image is not formed on even one page and resources shortage is found, the printing unit 6 is released to enable the overtaking by the following job, but when the image is formed even on one page, the printing unit 6 is not released, but recovery of the resources is waited as it is. Thus, it can prevent the image formation result of a plurality of the printing data from being superposed on the same sheet delivery bin.
