<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor energy consumption of each load without installing a monitoring system in each load consuming energy. <P>SOLUTION: In an energy consumption monitoring system, a measuring device 1 for measuring energy consumption of a load and a monitoring device 3 for collecting information relating to measured energy consumption are configured to communicate with each other. The monitoring device 3 is provided with a load specific information storage section 301 for storing information consisting of general energy consumption of the load and a use time zone for each type of load and a recommended consumption information storage section 302 for storing recommended consumption of energy, and when the monitoring device 3 receives consumption information from the measuring device 1, a load specification section 308 specifies the kind of a used load with reference to the load specific information storage section 301. Then, a discrimination processing section 309 determines whether or not the energy consumption of energy is within the range of the recommended consumption with reference to the recommended consumption information storage section 302.
