<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide porous alumina having such remarkably excellent durability that even when platinum is supported on the alumina and a high temperature and long time durability test is carried out, the surface area, pore volume and average pore diameter of the alumina hardly undergo a change. <P>SOLUTION: The porous alumina has a surface area of 20-150 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g, a pore volume of 0.1-0.5 cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>/g and an average pore diameter of 10-20 nm, and when the alumina is heat treated at 750°C for 50 h in the air after supporting platinum thereon, the surface area decreases by ≤10 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g, the pore volume changes within ±0.1 cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>/g, and the average pore diameter increases by ≤5 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
