<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor installation type elevator that can suppress the intrusion of rain water from a landing doorway regardless of the presence or absence of a car. <P>SOLUTION: In the outdoor installation type elevator in which a hoistway is provided outdoors and a car stop is provided indoors, a clearance blocking means (12, 13 and 16) is provided for blocking a clearance between a jamb (1A, 1B and 2) forming a landing doorway when a car is closed and car stop doors 4A and 4B. This configuration can prevent rain water from intruding between the car stop doors 4A and 4B and the jamb (1A, 1B and 2) from the hoistway side by the clearance blocking means (12, 13 and 16).
