<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro optical device that is arranged so as to be capable of preventing a plurality of microcapsules from moving, being deformed and being broken down even when force is applied from the outside to a data display layer including the plurality of microcapsules, and further to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An electro optical device comprises: a coated substrate 10; an array substrate 30 disposed so as to oppose to the coated substrate 10; a plurality of microcapsules 20 interposed between the coated substrate 10 and the array substrate 30; and a plurality of spherical spacers 40 fixed to a one surface 30a side of the array substrate 30. Each diameter of the plurality of the spherical spacers 40 is the same as a mean particle diameter of the plurality of the microcapsules 20. As a result of the existence of the plurality of the spherical spacers 40, a gap (space) d between the coated substrate 10 and the array substrate 30 can be kept the same as the mean particle diameter of the plurality of the microcapsules 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
