- 18 A pan and tilt drive system 10 for an electrically powered device 12 comprises a housing 14; a shaft 16 rotatably supported in the housing 14; and pan and tilt 5 motors 18, 26 disposed in the housing 14. The pan motor 18 is arranged to rotate the shaft 16 about its longitudinal axis. A receptacle coupled to the shaft 16 about a tilt axis 24 and is arranged to engage an electrically powered device 12. A tilt subsystem 22 is coupled between the housing 14 and the receptacle 20 to facilitate tilt motion of the receptacle 20 about the tilt axis 24. The tilt 10 subsystem 22 includes the tilt motor 26, a tilt coupling 28 and a tilt rod 30. The tilt coupling 22 is coupled between the tilt motor 26 and the tilt rod 30 with the tilt rod 30 being coupled between the tilt coupling 28 and the receptacle 20.
