The device (1) has a pair of electrodes (5, 5') interconnected in a housing (2). A non-conductive medium (4) i.e. foam-like substance, surrounds an electrically conductive fusible conductor (3) i.e. metallic conductor, where the foam-like substance is selected from a group consisting of expanding foam, a heat-resistant foam and a dimensionally stable foam or polyurethane foam. The metallic conductor is formed in form of a single wire or a strand that is provided with multiple individual wires. The housing is made of glass, ceramic, metal, metal alloy or plastic.
