745,993. Doors. CASTON, BARBER, Ltd. April 14, 1954 [March 8, 1954], No. 6724/54. Class 20(3). In doors comprising two hinged elements 1, 2 having strips 6, 7 along the opposite faces of their free edges to mask the gap between these edges which are adjacent to one another when the doors are closed, in order to ensure that the doors are closed in the right order, i.e. to prevent strip 7 from being engaged by strip 6 and so stopping door 1 from fully closing, a shaft 10 carried by the stationary frame 13 carries arms 8, 9 of unequal length having rollers 14, 15 at their free ends. The arms normally incline downwardly by an amount limited by a stop and, if it is attempted to close door 2 first, the roller 15 obstructs door 2 in such position that door 1 can pass freely with strip 6 clearing strip 7. As door 1 reaches fully closed position a striking plate contacts roller 14 and rotates shaft 10 to clear the roller 15 from the path of the door 2 which may therefore now be moved to closed position. The invention is of particular application to fire-resisting doors.
|
