The device (1) has a reducing unit (30) for partially reducing elasticity of a flexible continuous strip (2) and/or sections of an intermediate layer, where dimensions of the continuous strip and/or the sections remain constant. The reducing unit has a UV-light source and a laser medium. The reducing unit is arranged downstream of a storage unit (10) with respect to a running direction (4) of the strip. The storage unit includes a roller (11) through which the strip is provided to the reducing unit over a stepper (13). The raw material of the flexible continuous strip is selected from a film, paper and/or cardboard. An independent claim is also included for a method for palletizing a package of article.
