<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a driver must perform steering until a lane edge for starting lane change and the steering becomes a burden for the driver in conventional technology. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A lane change supporting apparatus comprises an intention determining unit for determining intention of the driver about the lane change, and a vehicle control unit for controlling its own vehicle, wherein the vehicle control unit controls the own vehicle to run along the lane of a side where the own vehicle performs the lane change when the intention determining unit determines that the driver has the intention for performing the lane change. The vehicle control unit may control so as to move to a direction for performing the lane change if the intention determining unit determines that the driver has the intention for performing the lane change when the own vehicle does not located at an edge of the side for performing the lane change.
