PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near infrared ray-absorber having small absorption of visual light zone and selectively absorbing the light of near infrared ray wavelength zone and an optical filter containing the near infrared ray absorber. SOLUTION: This near infrared ray-absorber for the optical filter consists of a bis[1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2,2,1]hept-2-ene-2, 3-dithiolato(2-)-κS,κS'] metal complex in which the metal element is selected from nickel, palladium and platinum.
