Disclosed is a 9-substituted-5-carboxy-oxadiazino-quinolone derivative of formula (I), where R1 and R2 may be separate or joined in a ring as described, and where the substituents are as defined in the specification. Also disclosed is the use of the compounds as antibacterial agents.
