Disclosed is the use of an inhibitor as herein defined for the manufacture of a medicament for treating pain associated with diarrhea-predominant IBS (d-IBS), or abdominal discomfort associated with d-IBS, wherein the inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of an extract from Croton spp. or Calophyllum spp., latex from Croton spp. or Calophyllum spp., proanthocyanidin polymer composition from a Croton species or a Calophyllum species, and crofelemer, wherein the amount of inhibitor is bioequivalent to crofelemer at a dosage of 50 mg per day to 750 mg per day.
