PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for winding fabrics are provided to constantly maintain tension applied to fabrics by constantly maintaining the speed of winding the fabrics around a fabric roll, thereby preventing the damage of the fabrics. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for winding fabrics comprises a sensor bar(220), a control unit, and a driving unit. The sensor bar is closely adhered at the top of fabrics(300) between a fabric bar(230) and a guide bar(210). In order to supply the fabrics toward a fabric bar, the guide bar changes the direction of the fabrics. If the sensor bar is moved up by the tension of the fabrics generating when the fabrics are wound on the fabric bar, the control unit decides the angular speed of the fabric bar with reference to the movement time of the sensor bar. The driving unit rotates the fabric bar according to the decided angular speed.
