PURPOSE: A linear motor is provided to improve the reliability and accuracy of detecting a magnetic pole without scarifying a stroke of the linear motor by arranging a magnetic pole detector in an armature. CONSTITUTION: A linear motor(1) includes a field magnet(2) and an armature(5). An armature winding(7) includes two winding groups of a small turn winding(7a) and a multiple turn winding(7b). A magnetic pole detector(9) includes a hall device to detect an initial magnetic pole location on the lower side of the small turn winding. |
