PURPOSE: A sewing machine having an alarm device is provided to accurately inform abnormal insertion and absence of bottom thread. CONSTITUTION: A sewing machine for sewing a fabric and leather has an alarm device which informs abnormality in sewing work to a worker. The sewing machine comprises: a circular outer flange placed at both end of a chamber in which bottom thread is wound around the outer circumference; a middle flange formed at the lower height than the outer flange in a predetermined interval; an electric wave distinguishing tag which is fixed at the outer circumference and sends signal according to the winding condition of the bottom thread; a bobbin having an electric wave distinguishing device(25) which informs remaining amount of the wound bottom thread by the alarm device(30); and a control unit(40).
