Disclosed is a liquid drink brewing system to reduce the risk of high pressure hot liquid discharging from the capsule. The system for preparing a liquid beverage from a cartridge comprises the preparation machine containing a supply unit for supplying injection fluid or water to the cartridge. Also the machine contains a cartridge support to securely hold a cartridge and injection means that are able to move relative to the cartridge holder in order to inject an injection fluid into the cartridge. The cartridge comprises an injection surface; and is positioned in the supply unit in an injection position so that the injection surface of the cartridge is held in a plane inclined at less than 45 degrees relative to the horizontal plane. The injection means are offset from the highest side of the cartridge after engagement of the injection means against the injection surface of the cartridge.
