<p>A method for coating a metal substrate with a coating material comprising an alloy of aluminium and zinc is disclosed, wherein the method comprises the steps of:(a) vapour or electro-depositing an alloy control material selected from the group comprising anyone or more of silicon (Si), titanium (Ti), manganese (Mn), niobium (Nb), tantalum (Ta) and tungsten (W) onto the substrate; and(b) passing the substrate through a bath of molten coating material comprising aluminium and zinc and forming a coating of the coating material onto the deposited alloy control material; wherein the method may further comprise: (c) adding the alloy control material to the bath of molten coating material to minimise dissolution of the vapour or electrodeposited alloy control material from the substrate as the substrate passes through the bath of molten coating material.</p> |
