The device (1) has an elongated beam (2) comprising a coupling system (3) for coupling the beam with a towing vehicle. The beam comprises a set of freely rotated support units e.g. rollers or wheels (5), to define a positioning area for segments of segmented pipes (C1, C2), and to support and guide the segments. The elongated beam is carried by a carriage (9) guided on the coupling system along a displacement axis that is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (L) of the beam. The beam has a rear end (2b) provided with a ground support wheel (4) that is fixed on a height adjustable support (4a).
