<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reluctance pickup for guitar which increases a signal-to-noise ratio response. <P>SOLUTION: A reluctance pickup 50 for a guitar 100 includes a pair of magnetic pole pieces disposed within wire coils. Those coils are wound in opposite directions and wired in series. Each of the pole pieces has a thin and long magnetic pole end extending to above each coil thereof. Those pole pieces are arranged so as to form a pickup plane having two pole ends extending substantially in parallel. Those thin and long pole ends have opposite magnetic polarities and generate a magnetic field therebetween. The pickup is attached right below a string 102 with magnetic transparency so that a projection of the string intersects with a pole end at an orientation angle selected between about 28° and about 58°, preferably, at 43°. Selected performance parameters of the pickup including inter-channel separation, frequency response, and dynamic response are optimized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
