<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing supported ruthenium oxide excelling in thermal stability and catalyst life, and a method for stably producing chlorine over a long period of time using the supported ruthenium oxide obtained by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a supported ruthenium oxide catalyst includes carrying out first firing in an atmosphere of oxidizing gas after contact treatment of a titania support with an aqueous solution containing alkali metal salt of silicic acid, and carrying out second firing in the atmosphere of oxidizing gas after contact treatment of the titania support with an aqueous solution containing a ruthenium compound. The supported ruthenium oxide produced by this method is used as a catalyst, and hydrogen chloride is oxidized with oxygen in the presence of this catalyst to produce chlorine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
