The unit (1) has an elongated supporting profile (2) comprising a light source i.e. LED (3), arranged in a longitudinal direction of the profile. The light source is arranged in an area of a rear wall (4) of the profile, and emits light in a direction turned away from the rear wall. A reflector (5) has a reflector surface (6) that is aligned with respect to the light source such that two portions of the emitted light passes through the rear wall in an area of respective longitudinal sides (7, 8) of the profile. The profile has a U-shaped cross-section, and the surface has partial surfaces. An independent claim is also included for a refrigeration unit comprising a lighting unit.
