FLAME-RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF MOLDING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a non-halogen-based flame retardant to an environmental resin, thereby providing an exterior body of an electric appliance.

SOLUTION: A process for producing the exterior body of the electric appliance includes a step of molding a flame-retardant resin composition by an injection molding method or compression molding method, wherein the frame-retardant resin composition comprises: a resin component containing 55 wt.% or more of a polylactic acid or a polylactic acid copolymer; and a flame retardancy-imparting component for imparting flame retardancy. In the process for producing the exterior body, the flame retardancy-imparting component is a catalytic cracking catalyst; and a composite oxide of silicon oxide and magnesium oxide or a silica-magnesia catalyst formed by making the both oxides bind to each other is used as the flame retardancy-imparting component. The frame retardancy-imparting component accounts for 0.5 to 40 wt.% of the flame retardant resin composition.
