According to an operation method for a multi-tasking machine comprising a plurality of work tools of different types, a work tool which is not performing any process among the plurality of work tools is caused to stand by in an energy-saving mode in which the energy consumption during standby is smaller than that in a normal standard mode. According to the abovementioned operation method, the work tool can be caused to stand by even in the energy-saving mode in which the energy consumption is smaller than that in the normal standard mode, and thus the energy consumption during standby can be further reduced.
