<p>METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USER AUTHENTICATIONAbstractA method and apparatus for user authentication are disclosed. The method involves: saved photographs of an identical user are identified according to a predetermined template; if they do not meet a predetermined requirement, the user is authenticated asto illegal; if they meet the predetermined requirement, a plurality of saved photographs of the user, which are randomly selected, are sent to a plurality of designated users for judging or giving scores; if more than a predetermined number of designated users judge that the plurality of photographs are photographs of the identical user, or if more than a predetermined number of designated users give scores greater than or equal to a specificIs value for the plurality of photographs according to a specific standard, the user is authenticated as legal; if more than a predetermined number of designated users judge that the plurality of photographs are not photographs of the identical user, or if more than the predetermined or designated users give scores less than the specific value for the plurality or photographs according to the specific standard, the user is authenticated as illegal.
