<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-cylinder 2-stroke internal combustion engine provided with operating characteristic more excellent than those of 4-cylinder 4-stroke engine. <P>SOLUTION: This invention provides a 2-stroke engine comprising two opposed pistons. Each cylinder houses two facing pistons, the respective cylinders totally have at least two exhaust ports, at least two intake ports, and the 2-stroke engine has a crankshaft asymmetrically connected to a journal and a scotch yoke mechanisms for driving the journal from the pistons. The pistons in each cylinder operate to open one or a plurality of the exhaust port or ports before opening one or a plurality of the intake port or ports and to close one or plurality of the exhaust port or ports before closing one or a plurality of the intake port or ports. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
