763,134. Valves. KROMSCHRODER AKT-GES., G. Nov. 4, 1954 [Nov. 5, 1953], No. 31913/54. Class 135. In a membrane-operated gas pressure regulator the spherical or conical surface of the valve 14 seats on the inner margin of a thin flatresilient valve seating ring 21. The valve has a coaxial inlet 26 and venturi outlet 23, the outlet pressure at a cylindrical throat portion 231 of the venturi, of length equal to the stroke of the valve, acts via a valve stem passage 25 in a chamber 4<SP>1</SP> on a weight-loaded diaphragm 3 so that outlet pressure is maintained with increased outflow. When the outlet pressure increases the valve seats on and deforms the seat 21, the wiping action produced keeping the valve and seat free from dirt. The valve rocks on a ball 13 and is secured to the stem by a diaphragm 15. Should the inlet pressure fail the valve closes on a seat 22 and is opened by inlet pressure acting on a sealing diaphragm 7. During regulation the diaphragm 7 compensates variations of inlet pressure acting on the valve.
